An Historic Day

Today was a normal day... except that I got to speak German at work! There was this lady who was going back to the fitting rooms. I saw that she had underwear and you're not allowed to take underwear into the fitting rooms because it's disgusting if you try on underwear. Don't ask me how it's different than bathing suit bottoms (except that I think you're technically supposed to keep your underwear on when trying on bathing suits). But anyway, I said "Ma'am, excuse me, ma'am" but she didn't seem to notice. Then I got up and walked toward the room and said it again, and this time she opened the door and acknowledged me. I said that she couldn't take the underwear in with her, but she didn't understand, so I tried it again but slightly differently. Once again, she said she didn't understand, but on the end of her sentence she said something that sounded German. So of course I blurted out "Sprechen Sie Deutsch?" (Do you speak German), and she said "Ja". I then explained the situation awkwardly in German to her. Frankly, I think she was a little caught off guard with my German speaking (my very imperfekt German speaking... haha I just wrote that in German without realizing it). She did her thing in the fitting room, and when she came out she said in German that she didn't know that she couldn't take the underwear in. And this was the day when my German officially became useful.

It is hard to believe that there is a German in Ann Arbor, shopping alone in Target, who can't understand English. It could've been a scam in order to get away with something that she knew wasn't allowed. But her plans were foiled! Muwahahaha!

I'm enjoying H2Opia on Facebook. It's a game where fish are bred and shared. I'm working on my mansion right now.

So I've been having trouble with homophones today. I definitely spelled 'allowed' as 'aloud' in the first paragraph and didn't realize it was wrong until the second time I wrote it. And then I almost wrote 'bread' instead of 'bred'. Stupid English. At least I didn't embarrass myself with 'your' and 'you're' or 'their', 'there', and 'they're'.
