Les Mots des Poemes

I don't know how many people I've told, but there is this great song that you should listen to and appreciate. Sometimes I hear songs and I fall in love immediately. There was Maria durch ein Dornwald ging around Christmas and Bed of Lies sometime in this past year, and my sophomore year it was Be My Escape. Well, on my way to Pennsylvania I discovered another one: Aicha by Khaled. It is mostly in French, although there are a couple lines in Arabic (the singer is from Algeria and this style of music is called 'Rai'). It's a love song and I love it. My favorite part is:
Je dirai les mots des poemes

Je jouerai les musiques du ciel
Je prendrai les rayons du soleil
Pour eclairer tes yeux de reine
The spelling may or may not be correct because I got this off some lyrics website. I watched the music video on YouTube, and even though the singer is creepy with his weird earring and old-man mustache, when he sings those previously mentioned four lines (1:44), my heart beats faster and I begin to think that he's not so repulsive after all.

Lately, I've been reading the fifth Harry Potter in German. When I really get into a book in German, I find (not surprisingly) that German becomes much more present in my thoughts. I'm more apt to think or even speak unintentionally in German. But what is especially fun is that random words or short phrases (mostly that I don't know what they mean) will completely randomly pop into my head and continue to pop to the front of my thoughts. There were two such words last night when I was trying to fall asleep, but I couldn't remember them this morning.

I saw Sex and the City in the theater with Tina last weekend and I enjoyed it. This has caused me to start watching the TV show on the internet. It's entertaining and sometimes makes me laugh out loud. Crude and explicit, but funny.

My orientation for my minimum-wage job was today. It shouldn't be hard, but I'm still afraid that I'll mess up. That's why I want to work for myself. I don't have to worry about being an idiot, I can make my own rules, and I can create my own schedule. But I would also settle for teaching German.

So go and listen to Aicha again and appreciate its wonderfulness.

I can see myself humming Aicha all day now! I didn't find the guy too hard to look at, he could choose a different earring though!
Hope your new job works out well for you, and perhaps you should look into tutoring German for the college? It would be a good way to start teaching!
Have a great week :)
