You're Invited!

One good thing about having guests is that the apartment finally gets cleaned. There seems to be no motivation to clean otherwise. I like the idea of having guests here, but when they get here, I'm always worried that they're not having a good time. But still, I like being a hostess. Sometimes I feel like Monica on Friends when the guys win the big apartment and she's afraid that now she'll never get to host anything. ...Yes, I can usually relate any situation to something I've seen in Friends. So we had some guests tonight: my Korean conversation partner and his sister and brother-in law. They had invited us to their place a while ago for some Korean food (delicious) and so we had them here tonight so they could experience some Tunisian food. Good times. In conclusion: you're invited. Come visit us!

Wasn't there something else I wanted to say? I don't know. Good night.

Sing a Song of Sixpence

So Nidhal and I went shopping at Meijer yesterday. We ended up paying $35.07 after our $1.30 bottle deposit refund. But besides the bottle refund, we saved $22.03. Pretty impressive. And that was really the most exciting part of the week.

It's Friday, but it doesn't feel like the weekend because I have some pressing work to do.

This afternoon, I watched the documentary Born into Brothels about some children in Calcutta, India, and one photographer's efforts to help them. It was quite good and I would definitely recommend it.

It's almost midnight, but maybe I'll go clean the apartment now.

Kiss Me, I'm a Wolverine!

Yesterday, I finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. This will be the second time I've read through the Harry Potter books in English. I've read all but the last one in German. In order to continue my journey, I need to get the sixth one in English. Soon.

In other news... beautiful weather. I wish I had something to do outside. I'm watching the Food Network and it's making me want to cook. I'm not a very inspired cook, but at least Nidhal likes what I make (most of the time). I think every time I've made something "American", he has said that it tastes better than my mom's version. Rachael Ray: Couscous is not Moroccan pasta! At least say North African! Stupid.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Oh, the memories of this day in 2007. Such a wonderful trip and such an eventful 17th of March!

Schwammkopf

Watching SpongeBob in German brings back vivid memories of my year in Freiburg.

I just watched Logorama and I do not agree that it should have gotten the Oscar. I liked the logo concept, but the plot and dialogue were ridiculous. French Roast, The Lady and the Reaper, and Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty were better. Overall, though, I think the short animated films were a lot better last year.

I woke up sick on Saturday morning, but the worst was over by 11 a.m. and now I feel basically back to normal.

Currently, I'm watching a documentary about Iran. I was hoping that it would be less about Ahmadinejad than it is. Oh well.

One or the Other

So I was sitting on the couch watching the Olympics in the first week... it was the men's figure skating finals thing... and I was watching the only American with any hope of a medal, Evan Lysacek... and right when he was doing a big jump that the commentators were saying he had to land, right when he was about to land, the screen went black. A test of the emergency broadcast system. NICE. Oh, I was mad. I'm not that big into figure skating (snowboarding, skiing, speed skating is more my thing), but I got into it on Tuesday and so I wanted to see the finals.

This past week was spring break. Nidhal and I spent some of it home at my parents' house. Like always, it was nice to hear silence instead of the never-ending cars and sirens and people yelling and awful music. And now I should be working on my homework for this coming week, but I am completely not motivated.

Nidhal and I saw Shutter Island last night. I liked it, but Nidhal was upset about the ending. He didn't want to believe the plot twist.

I absolutely can not wait until summer. I'm so sick of this program, mainly because the people running it are either arrogant or incompetent. Seriously. I'm so frustrated with one of my classes. Hardly anything is being taught (which is usual for that professor) and then I'm being penalized because I have no teacing experience. So MAD.
