An Update
That whole what-to-do-after-graduation thing has got me puzzled. There are actually quite a few options... I just don't know which one to pick.
Grey's Anatomy began anew on Thursday. I watched it. Hopefully it will be better than last season.
I'm tired and I'm currently sitting in Au Gres. I like it here right now because it really feels like fall. It has the fall aura. It's almost noon. Nidhal is still sleeping. There's not much to do. I want to take him to Lumberman's Monument and Iargo Springs. Other than that... nichts. And everytime the idea of something to do pops into my head, it ends up being something in Freiburg. Alas.Band-O-Rama is coming up in October. Is anyone interested?...And now I have to help transfer food to the auto.
I just want to strangle something.
I'm watching SpongeBob.
Actually, I'm so infuriated right now that can't even think enough to write a blog.
Um, so I might come home this weekend or the next weekend. We'll have to see.
Classes are fine. There is really nothing interesting to say about them.
We finally have internet again. But now that we have internet, other things have begun to annoy me about this place. Maybe I'm just impossible to please. Or maybe it's because people are idiots. I'm going to say that it's a 30/70 split.
Nidhal went with me to my class this evening. He seemed to enjoy it.
Grr.
Time To Complain
Nidhal made couscous Monday night and it was really good. Mmm.I have so much stupid work to do. And my spacebar doesn't work correctly anymore.I'm tired. In my German conversation class, I get quite annoyed. They've all been to Germany either in high school or in college for some program or something, and it's like now they can't come up with an original comment or answer. It's always 'in Germany', 'when I was in Germany', 'I did/they have/I saw X in Germany'. They are like washed-up (or washed-out... I'm not sure what the correct term is) old war veterans who spend they're time retelling worn out stories from their tours of duty. And every second they're trying to best someone else. I don't like it. We were all there at one point or anther. We get it. Get over it. The one kid is a freshman and he's espcially annoying with this, but he's also just annoying in general. My other German class annoys me too. First of all, the grammer that we've done is dumb. I've learned it already, and sure it's good to see it again, to get a refresher, but it's like most of them have never seen it. And now she wants to do even more of such stuff because they're so bad at it. Secondly, there is someone in the class who uses a word that I absolutely despise: also (you say it 'all-zoe' in German and it's kind of like 'therefore'). It's like she can't utter a sentence without throwing a few in. Everytime she opens her mouth, it's the first thing she says. This kind of usage was cited by Mark Twain as an annoying thing that Germans do, but Germans don't actually do that. So it's as though she's trying to be German but failing miserably and just making a fool of herself and annoying people (me).Nidhal dumped water on me today and I was not pleased with that. But he's cute, so I'll forgive him.The weather is nice... warm... sunny. It's true. The apartment is cluttered. There are a ton of empty boxes and stuff left over from moving-in in the living room and they've been there for a month. I'm sick of it. And there are other boxes with random, pointless stuff in them. And there are shelves, but all the shelves were full by the time Jenny and I moved in. LAME. I'm not overly pleased with the situation. And there are random paper plates everywhere. At least I try to clean up after myself.
Tired and Annoyed.
I was home (Au Gres) this weekend with Nidhal. Then on Sunday we went to Grand Rapids for Anna's second birthday. And now I can't find my external hard drive or my USB stick, and I'm really annoyed about it.Classes are annoying, like usual. Between them and Nidhal, I don't have time for much of anything.I'm tired now. I just wanted to tell you that I'm still alive.
Ich will nicht hier sein.
Yesterday's classes were ok. I had German 425 from 11-12, and it wasn't as intimidating as I expected. I'll probably stick with that class. Then I had a linguistics class called Language and Discrimination. It actually seemed really interesting... and easy. No exams. Four 2-4 page papers. Online quizes. Opinion polls. Yeah, it doesn't sound too stressful. On Tuesday, I saw a car go the wrong way down a one way street. I don't know if the driver was an idiot and didn't know or was an idiot and did it anyway. Stupid people.Today's classes were ok. French was kind of annoying. She expects us to not speak any more English. Like that is going to happen. All we can say is 'hello, my name is ___'. Lovely. The linguistics professer was entertaining again.Love Actually is a good movie.Jenny went to bed at 10:30 tonight. (Yes, Jenny, that is quite early).Blah.
The First Day Back
Right now it's 1:30, I have already been to two classes and an appointment, and I still have three classes to go to. This is not going to be a pleasant day.First I had a German class. The instructor was a little odd but nice enough, but the class was so... not what I am looking for. The topic doesn't interest me (expressionism) and the level is below me (Kalli said it would be). Kalli suggested that I try out a class tonight, and so I'm going to do that. And then there is one that I'll check out tomorrow. After German was French. It was ok. Hardly anyone in the class had had French before. Then I went to the bank only to find out that I need to write a check to myself in order to withdraw money. Wonderful. Oh well. So I still need to go back to the bank and also to the post office (I need to mail a CD of pictures to Germany). That has been my day so far. Next update in a few hours.Ok, it's now 10:30pm. I ended up going to my next class way too early because I forgot about the Michigan time thing (10:00=10:10). And the class (syntax) was fun. The professor was nuts. He insisted that we call him Sam. I already have some fun quotes from that class. He challenged us to find a class with a more boring name at UM (the title of the class was 'introduction to sentence analysis').After that class, I went to the bank, bought a book, went to the post office and sent something to Germany, bought a Coursepack, went home, called Lufthansa and United to change Nidhal's meal on his flight, and then went to my next class. This class was a conversation class for German. Some of the people in it were annoying, but it was generally a good time. The next class was right after it (from 7-8:30pm) and was about West German terrorism. Not my cup of tea. I almost fell asleep. I don't know what German class I'll take. The one tomorrow looks like a lot of work. I have a German class and a linguistics class tomorrow. And that was my day, my very long day.
