Snowy Days

It's Friday night and I'm sitting here grading papers.  Yup, how exiting is my life.  I'll blame it on a recent change in schedule with the hubs and a general lack of sleep recently.  He's here snoring next to me.

The snow is beautiful!  But it definitely was not fun to walk through to the bus and through town.  Slippery, cold, wet, dirty (in town).  But it'll be gone by Monday anyway.  I'll have to enjoy it while I can.

Who knew a satellite radio subscription was so expensive?  We have a free trial thing in the car and they sent us a brochure.  Apparently, it's $175 for a year.  I expected it to be half that.  We like it but probably not enough to pay that kind of money right now.  But, let's think about it.  What can you get for $15 per month?  Internet is more expensive.  Cable is way more expensive.  Netflix streaming is cheaper.  Data packages for cell phones are more expensive.  Plus, normal radio is free.  Hmm, I don't know.

I'm sure there was something else I was going to ramble about, but my brain isn't moving very quickly nowadays.  So, goodnight, lonely internet.  Goodnight.

There's no hope for the human race.

Some people are complete idiots.  Unbelievable.  On Tuesday, we woke up and found the one side of our car quite scratched up from some idiot not knowing how to pull out of a parking spot.  Idiot!  Now, we have to file a police report, but the insurance said they'd cover the repairs.  If they do as they claim, this is one time that having insurance will really pay off.  The cost of the repairs is almost $1800 (this is a quote we got from one of their approved body shops) and that's if there's no damage besides cosmetic.  Since we got the car in July, we haven't even paid in that much to the insurance.  Also, the body shop said it would take seven days to fix and that if the insurance didn't provide a rental for us for that time, the body shop would for almost free ($50 refundable deposit and $2 per day).  So it looks like it's all going to work out, but still how can someone be so stupid?  How hard is it to not hit someone's car when you're going less than 5 miles per hour?  Idiot!  Unbelievable.

I'm so happy it's the weekend.  Weekends are the best.  I don't like, though, that I'm already a few hours into my weekend.  I love the huge potential when I walk out of the door after work on Friday, but already on Saturday, it feels like the weekend is almost over.  So Friday night is really the night to relish the possibilities of the weekend.  Anyway, I think I'm going to go clean the bathroom.  Nice start to the weekend, right?

Holiday Hangover

Well, Christmas has come and gone.  Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Holidays, by the way.  The whole holiday season was a bit too rushed for my taste.  I wish we could've spent more time with family, but that's just the way it is, I guess.  My dear husband has showered me with wonderful presents.  He is the best ever!  We have a ton of chocolate around the house now, so if anyone wants some, all you have to do is come visit us!  :)  The week of Christmas was sure crazy.  It slowed down in New Year's week, but that week went even faster than the crazy Christmas week.  At least I had some time to relax before I had to go back to work.

The drive back home after Christmas was crazy.  We were caught in the snowstorm and it took us twice as long for the overall trip.  And, actually, the snowstorm was only for half of the drive, so the storm really slowed us down to 1/3 our usual pace.  When we were home, though, I did enjoy sitting in my warm home watching the snow fall in big fluffy flakes.

Now, things are back to normal.  Work, eat, sleep, repeat.

Monopoly is apparently getting rid of an old piece and adding a new piece.  Although I love cats, the cat is not the piece I'd choose to add to the collection.  In fact, I think it's my last choice.  It's too much like the dog.  I would pick the helicopter, robot, or ring.  Of the old pieces, I think I wouldn't mind seeing the wheelbarrow go.  It's been so long since I've played Monopoly that I can't remember what my favorite piece was.  Maybe the hat or the thimble?  Anyway, Happy January!
