July Already!

Today included a trip to Detroit and Dearborn.  If I wouldn't have had to teach in the afternoon, we would've gone to Canada, too.  But, alas, the time constraint did not allow us to make it to Point Pelee or even Windsor.  Detroit was lovely in the warm, cloudless morning.  And Dearborn.  We enjoyed our time (and food) in Dearborn so much that we were talking about going back tomorrow.  Yes, we've been there before and done it all already, but today was just so nice and so delicious.  So maybe tomorrow... but probably not.  I would bet that the desire to sleep would win out over the desire to eat  chocolate croissants, meat pies, spinach and cheese pies, and succulent chicken.  Maybe on Wednesday.


Almost two weeks ago, I crushed my thumb in the car door.  Yup, I'm just that smart.  And, wow, that was painful.  It stopped throbbing after a couple days, and a few days after that, I could start touching it without experiencing sharp pains.  Now, the swelling is down and I don't have to worry about hitting it on anything, but I still can't pick anything up with the thumb.  I can't put any pressure on it.  Maybe the bone at the end is broken?  The joint is fine, it bends and all, but I can't put any significant pressure on the top half of my thumb.  Oh well.  At least there's no thumb cast.
