Eis und Feuer

I am currently reading A Game of Thrones, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I want to like it, I really do. The plot is interesting, the characters are likable (or they are the "bad guys"). The book comes with high recommendations. But it drags. It drags and drags and drags. The books goes on and on and nothing happens. I don't need fighting or action in my books. In fact, I usually skip over those parts. But I need something. I am certainly not a patient reader, and after trying to find out what happens on the internet, I'm afraid that this 800-page book is going to end like a to-be-continued TV episode and that the entire series will be no different. The characters I like, the characters that I see as the heroes of the books, will die. And then what? Sure, it's realistic, but is it a good read? I'm not so sure.

It is quite chilly in our house right now. I'm wearing two pairs of socks, pajama pants, two sweatshirts with the hoods up and tied, and a scarf... and I'm just beginning to feel warm.
