Movies and such...
I watched the Walmart documentary on Netflix and it was rather shocking. I already had heard about the mistreatment of the employees, but I was surprised about the rest of the stuff. The movie sure made the founders of Walmart out to be greedy, unfeeling monsters. Whether this is true or not, I don't know, but statistics don't lie. They have around 50 billion dollars. They gave only a few percent of that to charity. Bill Gates gave 58 percent of his money. Walmart has a program to help their employees who need financial assistance. The employees of Walmart gave 5 million dollars to the program while the founders of Walmart gave six thousand dollars. Ridiculous.
Speaking of documentaries, I enjoy them. There's one called "War Dance" about a school in northern Uganda that's really good. I'm not sure what to think about "Jesus Camp". "Nova", the PBS show, has some good stuff. And the one about McDonald's was interesting though kind of gross.
It's so hot here today that we had to use the AC in our car and our apartment. It was supposed to get to about 88 degrees.
In other news, I've been cooking for the past two hours and I still have about one to two hours of cooking ahead of me. This dinner is not a quick one to make... chicken enchiladas, Spanish rice, and chips and homemade salsa. It took me over an hour last night just to shred the chicken for the enchiladas. The two hours today were spent making the salsa, preparing the enchilada filling, and chopping vegetables for the rice. I still have to assemble and bake the enchiladas and cook the rice. If it weren't so delicious, I wouldn't go to so much trouble, believe me.
There's this incredibly dumb movie called Imagine That. It sounded like a cute kids movie, but it's just stupid. The little girl in the movie is annoying and not a good actor. I should have turned it off after 20 minutes, but I have issues not finishing a movie after I start it.
