White Christmas

Time really flies. ...Thanksgiving is this week. ...I'm looking forward to it...

Last weekend, we were in Au Gres so Nidhal could go hunting. He enjoyed it, but he didn't see anything. Harvey, the guy who has been coming to hunt for over 20 years, shot a deer around 8 a.m. on Sunday, opening day. We were going to go back up this weekend, but my dad said that it probably wouldn't be worth the gas to get there. And I had to work with a group for one of my classes this weekend.

Speaking of classes, my 1-credit class is almost done. I only have to write a 3-4 page paper and then it will be done forever! That class was a waste of time.

I have two big papers to write for two of my other classes. The one paper is about the phonology of the Tunisian dialect of Arabic and the other paper is going to be about the syntax of resultative adjectives. Fun. I think I'll enjoy writing the first one, but the second one is going to be a bit of a pain.

What A Great Day!

TODAY WAS GREEEEEAAAAT! It started out with getting up early, but not feeling too tired. So that wasn't a bad way to start the day. Nidhal and I drove to Detroit, where we got a tour of Wayne State University by Alex. And we ate at La Pita, which was very tasty. I had a chicken tawook pita with some hummus. Nidhal had something else with a side of lentil soup, and surprisingly, it was very very good lentil soup. It was the first lentil soup that I actually wanted to keep eating. So, this morning and afternoon were both very nice.

Then Nidhal had to drop me off at Eastern early because he had to take a friend to the airport and he probably wouldn't be back in time for me to get to my class at 5pm. First, I dropped off a book that I had been trying to give back to its owner for over a week. Then, one of my professors had office hours, so I stopped off there. I had been having an awful time finding a topic for our long research paper that she approved of. But last week sometime, I got an idea. I told this new idea to the professor today and she LOVED it. YES! Finally. I just wish I had thought of this earlier because I only have a couple weeks to write it now (along with the other many many pages of papers that I have to write).

In my second class, we got our exams back from last week and I did wonderfully. :) I had either the top grade or the second highest grade. Once again: YES! Plus, the people liked the snacks that I brought (it was my turn).

When I got home, my cute hubby was there. And then I got a call from my dad, and he told me that he got a deer! I don't even remember the last time he got one. Nidhal was excited, too.

So... great day. Still a lot to do, but a great day nonetheless.

It has almost been completed.

My passives paper is almost done. I just have to check it over and write a conclusion. I hope the professor is pleased with my work.

I've found that I can write papers more quickly than I could before. Maybe I'm just less terrified by the thought of writing long papers. This semester has definitely involved some writing. So far this semester, I've written about 50 pages. Still to come this semester are two 15-page papers, one or two 10-page papers, and a five page paper. Oh, and we can't forget the four more exams either. Lovely. I'm going to die.

I watched ABC's V this afternoon (yes, when I should have been writing my paper). At first, I wasn't too sure about it. It wasn't living up to the commercials. But then at the end when what looked like separate story lines came together and some completely unexpected stuff happened, I was hooked. But I don't know if the next episode (tomorrow) will live up to this one. It's almost as if they revealed too much information already. I loved it that so much was explained (unlike FlashForward). This satisfied my curiosity, but with FlashForward, it's the curiosity that keeps me coming back. So I'll just have to watch it on Wednesday and see how it goes (I can't watch it tomorrow because I have a class during it).

And congrats ABC, you have some good shows. Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, FlashForward, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and now V. The only thing I watch regularly from another main network is Heroes on NBC (and Jay Leno with Nidhal).

The Pumpkin Smasher

This afternoon, I decided that I wanted a break from my reading, so I started looking at various things in the internet pretaining to further education. After a bit of research, I began to type a question beginning with "why" into Google. I didn't get past the "why". And why was that? Because I was so entertained by the questions that automatically popped up.
Why is the sky blue? Why do men have nipples? Why is big bird on Google? Why do cats purr? Why is my poop green? Why did I get married? Why do dogs eat grass? Why do dogs eat poop? Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?

If what I have gleaned from Facebook is accurate, I believe congratulations are in order for a certain Lyne. :) Congratulations, Lyne! I was surprised but not too surprised.

On Tuesday, I had an exam, and yesterday we got them back. I am pleased to announce that it was a smashing success. I was a bit worried because I did not know how the professor would grade (a lot of it was subjective), but it turned out fine. There was a matching section and three of the questions I wasn't sure about (and there were more possible answers than questions). But after some strategic analysis, I was able to make some very calculated and correct guesses.

Now I just have to study for the next exam on Tuesday and write the paper that's due on Tuesday. Fun stuff.

I think I want an iPhone.

Two of my friends are fans of "Make a 'don't like' button on Facebook"... on Facebook. Coincidentally, these two friends are both from Eastern Europe. ...I just thought that was interesting.

I wanted something to drink this evening. Water or milk? Or chocolate milk! Yes, milk with chocolate syrup. What could be better?

On Tuesday, I have another midterm. Stupid classes. At least my study group is entertaining.

Nidhal is currently playing soccer.

My life is boring.
