Just So Tired
Nidhal is flying back to Germany right now. I miss him. I'm trying to track his flight, but it hasn't been updating for a while.About the girl in the last post, even if she were 'dead', they would probably still rush her to the hospital. I would think that dead is something for a doctor to decide and not a paramedic. In conclusion, I think she was fine. I didn't see anything in the paper.I'm spending my time now watching old Heroes episodes.Nothing much has happened, like always.
Everybody Does It
My French test went well. I got an A. A lovely A. But in the meantime, I had a French oral test. That was not so pleasant, I think.
A girl was hit by a car on campus this evening. I didn't see it, but I was there with Nidhal a few minutes after it happened (my class had just ended). I don't think she was seriously injured. She wasn't moving, but the ambulance was in no hurry to go anywhere.
"People are stupid and just want to be loved. That's the only reason anybody does anything." -Bailey, Grey's Anatomy
Nidhal is with his friend right now. I'm watching the episode of Grey's Anatomy that I missed (hence the quote). Derrick is really ticking me off at the moment because of what he's doing with Lexie and Christina.
That's all. People are loud and annoying. Everything comes to an end.
Another Week Gone By
On Wednesday, Nidhal went to a friend's house. Yes, that's right, Nidhal made a friend. We went to the mall again on Wednesday and found a suit for Nidhal. He likes it a lot and it looks really good on him. Then we went back Thursday and bought some new clothes for him. Friday was a holiday (the day after Ramadan) and he needed some nice clothes for it. Between eating like an American, dressing like an American, and watching American TV, it's hard to tell he's from a foreign country. ...Except for when he speaks, but that's cute and we're working on it.
I got my French test back on Friday. It was an A (79/81). I was quite pleased. German was as annoying as ever and Linguistics was a bit boring.
Nidhal and I went to Cedar Point yesterday. I bought and printed the tickets on the internet. I don't know what we'll do for the rest of fall break. I wanted to do something good or exciting for him, but I just have no idea. Cedar Point was really fun though, despite the fact that it was packed, completely packed. Nidhal was a bit frightened before and on all of the rides, but he really enjoyed it. You should have seen the video of him from the Raptor.
Today we're going to relax. I like relaxing.
A Lazy Sunday
For some reason, I've just been completely exhausted lately. I don't really know why.
Nidhal and I went with Alex and his mom to Detroit yesterday. We saw the Heidelberg Project, the 'Detroit International Riverwalk', the Renaissance Center, Greek Town, Comerica Park, Ford Field, and Belle Isle. It was fun and Nidhal enjoyed it. He got to see Canada from across the river. Afterwards, we ate dinner at a Mediterranean restaurant and had dessert at a Middle Eastern dessert place. Alex's mom really wanted to make Nidhal feel welcome.
Today we went grocery shopping and spent over $80. Ridiculous. $20 of it was my ink cartridge.
Michigan won yesterday. That was nice. I wasn't there, nor did I know until this morning that they had won. We were planning to go, but then we saw that it was going to be hot and we got the invitation from Alex.
It's really hot again today. I was only outside once.
Next weekend is fall break (that means we get Monday and Tuesday off). Nidhal and I are thinking about going to Chicago. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Fernweh... oder vielleicht eigentlich Heimweh
The one nice thing about squirrels is that there is less of a chance that they'll poop on your head. In comparison to pigeons, that is. The pigeons in Freiburg were like the squirrels in Ann Arbor. Everywhere. I miss Freiburg. I keep thinking about walking down a certain street or browsing in a certain store or buying groceries in Migros, and then I realize that these staples of my life for the past year are no longer just a Strassenbahn ride away. One day this past week, I was sitting in my French class and it was particularly not interesting. My mind wandered, and I caught myself considering stopping by Migros after class to pick up some food. But, of course, there is no Migros in Ann Arbor nor is there a [nice] grocery store within walking distance.
I'm sitting on my couch. I had a slice of leftover pizza and a smoothie for lunch.
Tomorrow, I have to give a presentation. Not cool.
Nidhal is taking a nap. Apparently he didn't fall asleep until 7am this morning. Poor kid. I think I heard him moving around at 4am.
I had a French test today and I think it went fairly well. We shall see.
Quadratisch, Praktisch, Gut.
I skipped my German class today. And now I'm having fun eating vanilla wafers. What a wonderful lunch/breakfast. It's currently noon and Nidhal is still sleeping. I don't know what his deal is.
This afternoon, I have one lecture and then that's all.
(Several hours later)
Nidhal is at the mosque. I've been working on a presentation for my German class. My topic is the TV show Friends. I only picked it because I have two seasons of it on DVD in German. I can waste time showing a clip. I have a stupid French test tomorrow. ...Not looking forward to that.
Nidhal leaves at the end of October. I don't want him to go. Half of our time together is already gone. So sad.
Such is Life
Well, well. I was home for the weekend. That was rather relaxing. Nidhal and I played Sequence a lot and we went to Lumberman's Monument and Iargo Springs. He thought it was beautiful, but he wasn't fond of the stairs. We saw Lyne right before we left (and got some of her tasty salsa).
Today was frustrating. My classes are annoying. I thought I had a test in French today, but apparently that's on Thursday. At least I'll hopefully be prepared for it now. And then there's the stupidness of my German class. My linguistics class is interesting, but there is too much reading. Blah blah blah.
Nidhal and I made couscous tonight for dinner. Yum. I did my French homework, and now I'm trying to print the reading for one of my linguistics classes. It's about 74 pages long. Ridiculous. And it's using all of my ink. But I guess it's better than paying $150 for what I'm now printing.
I don't know if I'm going to go to the game on Saturday. It's iffy.
My life doesn't consist of anything interesting at the moment. I'd like to go to Cedar Point before the season is over. Maybe this weekend.
There are idiots that keep going the wrong way down the one-way street. I want to smack them.
