I once had a cat named Simon.

I had a presentation today in my first class (Phonetics and Phonology). It went fairly well, and I'm just glad that it is over.

So that new ruling that will shut-down internet radio sucks. They are just idiots. www.savenetradio.org. "The future of Internet radio is in immediate danger. Royalty rates for webcasters have been drastically increased by a recent ruling and are due to go into effect on July 15 (retroactive to Jan 1, 2006!)."

German keyboards are annoying.

The weather in Freiburg is still messed up.

On Sunday, I went to Titisee with Nidhal. We rented a paddleboat and went out onto the lake. It was quite nice and beautiful. Then we had some fruit and ice cream and looked at Black Forest stuff.

The lazy boy is sleeping now and I'm hungry.

I miss my kitties and I need more macoroni and cheese.

Weird Weather

There was a huge storm a couple nights ago. It lasted all night and the thunder woke me up more than once. But since then, it's at least been cooler. It was so hot and unbearable, but now it's nice.

It's noon and I'm at Nidhal's waiting for him to get back from the doctor so we can have breakfast. I'm hungry.

...And it's now about 6 hours later in the day. I prepared another box to send home. It costs about €30 per box. I've already send three boxes. I think I bought a lot of stuff here. Oh well.

The weather changes about 5 times a day now.

Stell dir vor...

...es ist Kreig und keiner geht hin.

I made no-bake cookies a couple days ago and they were good. They were more peanut buttery than chocolatey though because I couldn't find any cocoa powder and so I had to use chocolate milk/hot chocolate drink mix.

Sleeping is nice.

Nidhal has been gone for over an hour. I said that I would wait for him while he got a passport photo taken, but this is taking forever. Maybe I'll go for a quick bikeride.

FINALLY!

On Tuesday, I finally saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3, and I really liked it. Unlike Ryan, I didn't think it was too drawn out. In my opinion, it was much better than the second one. They didn't overly reuse the jokes again (at least from what I understood... I was watching it in German), there weren't long and unnecessary plot elements, and the characters really seemed to develop. Jack didn't develop at all, but he's just weird so it's ok. I want to see it again in English.

Yesterday, I watched High School Musical with Nidhal. He liked it, and of course I like it.

It's raining today. Sometimes I like the rain. At least it gives me an excuse to stay inside all day. I really need to do my laundry, but I can't find my coins for the washers and driers. It's a little upsetting. And I'm thirsty so I'm going to get some Pepsi now.

(a few minutes later) Mmmm, this Pepsi is good. Speaking of pop, I had a dream about McDonald's last night. I dreamed that I wanted a Big Mac, fries, and a coke, but the guy who took my order did it weirdly. He started from a kids' menu and then upgraded the things, and in the end I had less food than a normal meal #1 but it cost twice as much. So I was upset and complained to the manager guy, but he wouldn't give me half of my money back. Instead, he made me give him 50 cents and then he gave me a piece of cardboard, which he said entitled me to a certain percentage off the price of my next purchase at McDonald's. I was quite upset, because I just wanted my 7 dollars or Euros of whatever it was back. As I was storming out of McDonald's, I looked at the cardboard and saw that it was 100% off my next purchase, and so decided that I would just bring all of my friends and buy a ton of food for free to get back at them. And I remember thinking, 'you can never have too much fountain pop in your fridge'.

I think I need to do one more Freiburg shopping trip before I leave. I want to buy a t-shirt and a beer mug and some other stuff. I've been starting to send stuff home. A while ago, I sent a box home and on Wednesday I sent two more boxes home. ...And there will still be a few more boxes at least. I'm leaving my printer, TV, hangers, fan, rug, blanket, sheet, pillows, bike, and other random stuff here. The rest, I need to find some way to get home. It'll work out somehow.

That is all for now. Have a lovely day.

My Pepsi just attacked me.

Good morning. It's actually afternoon here. Life is continuing. I had to give a presentation yesterday with Beki. It certainly wasn't fun, but it also wasn't bad. In fact, I think it went fairly well. Today, I went back to the dentist. There's a hole that's not quite healed and food and stuff keeps getting stuck in it. I've had a variety of things stuck in there, including a quarter-size piece of lettuce and a nickel-size piece of Döner meat. But the dentist said it was normal and will continue to heal. Speaking of healing, I haven't felt sick at all today, I think. I'm hoping I'm getting better. Beki goes back to the doctor tomorrow, and so I'm going to wait and see what he tells her. Nidhal is quite sick, but I don't think it's Egypt related. He has an awful sore throat, a fever, bad headache, and is sore pretty much everywhere else. He is going to the doctor this afternoon.

I still haven't seen Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Ocean's 13, or Spider-Man 3. I've been wanting to for a long time, but there hasn't really been time. Maybe I'll go today... but it's doubtful.

Vanessa is in Spain right now, and I still need to go visit her. I really want to, but there is so much going on this semester and most of her time is already scheduled.

So Far From Real

I really need to be more productive. This evening, I made tacos and cookies for Nidhal and me. The tacos were pretty good but the cookies tasted weird. Not bad, just weird. I think it was the butter.

The last post was supposed to actually say something, but it went weird. I don't know.

Egypt really was an interesting experience. I'm still not completely better, but I'm working on it.

I just want to sleep and get this Referat over with.

Where did the time go?

And Then There Was Egypt

Finally, I am back in front of my lovely computer. Egypt was definitely an interesting experience. Alex, Beki, Grace, Nidhal, and I flew to Egpyt on Monday and got there around 8pm. A friend of Nidhal's friend was there to pick us up... but so was a guy from the hostel. That was a little tense in a very Egyptian way. On the way to the hostel, I noticed that in many places there were no lines on the roads. When there were, no one paid any attention to them. Along with the lack of road order was, of course, the continuous honking of horns. But we made it back with our lives and then went out for juice and some shisha. On the way there, we noticed that the residents of Cairo also ignored all street lights.

On Tuesday, we saw the pyramids, the sphinx, and some other stuff. It was incredibly hot and really really bright and sunny. By 4pm, we were starving, but apparently it's normal for Egyptians not to eat lunch until then. Nuts. The humas was really really amazingly good. ...And then we slept, I think. Wednesday was more stuff in Cairo including the museum with mummies and crap.. It's kind of a blur. I'm not entirely sure what we did. Oh yes, I remember. We saw a castle and went in a mosque and did some store browsing.

And then there was Thursday. We all woke up sick (except Nidhal, but he got it the next day). It was completely unpleasant and not cool. I believe the best description given was 'anal faucet'. In the evening, we had booked a 2-hour cruise on the Nile, and so we did that. None of us were feeling that great (except Nidhal), and I think I was the worst of all of them. I didn't eat anything on the boat and I saw some interesting entertainment. The next day was almost as sick as Thursday, but we were in Alexandria and couldn't stay in bed. Alexandria was interesting. We saw some ruins, a library, a cool castle, and the beach. We swam in the Mediterranean. Saturday was better in the sickness category and also very interesting. We saw a museum of a bunch of early Christian stuff in Egypt and went shopping. Overall, a good time.
