It's Almost Christmas!
Yes, it's almost Christmas, but I'm not very excited. Things with our jobs are complicated and I don't know if we'll be able to travel home or if I'll be all alone on Christmas. Also, I haven't been able to make any cookies yet like I wanted to. I'm tired and stressed out and I just wish there were something to look forward to.
Speaking of Christmas, I have most of the presents wrapped. I've been watching Christmas movies and Christmas TV episodes throughout December. I still have to watch Rudolph, It's A Wonderful Life, and Mickey's Christmas Carol. I was saving these to see if the hubs could watch them with me, but he's been so busy lately. It's just crazy. He gets home from work and goes to bed soon after. Then, in the morning, he wakes up and there are only a few hours before he has to go to work. All we have time for in the morning is our showers, breakfast, and then maybe 30 minutes of "free time". Having more money is nice, but having to sacrifice time together and time with family and friends over the holidays is quite the trade-off. ...Anyway, is there anything less depressing and more interesting to talk about?
I really want some lemon poppy seed muffins, but I don't know where to find them. It seems like they shouldn't be a seasonal thing because lemons are in season in the winter, and in the summer, lemon things are popular. So why in the world would they only be a seasonal item??? I'm considering making them, but that requires time and a clean kitchen, both of which are currently lacking in my life. I also want to make chili because it's thick, hot, and delicious, and it's perfect for a cold, dreary, rainy/snowy winter's day like yesterday and today. Unfortunately, I don't have a recipe. Yes, there are thousands, I'm sure, on the internet, but many seem to be so specialized. I just need a basic but delicious recipe that I can try out and then take in my own direction if I so choose.
Happy first day of WINTER!
