Cheesecake!

Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself. I was just thinking how awful some names are and wondering what in the world would ever possess someone to name their kid that. Blue, Apple, Talent, Sparrow, Free, Legend? Seriously people. Some Noun/Adjective names are better than others, but I would never do such a thing. And here's where the laughing comes in. As soon as I thought "I would never name my kid after an object" I realized that names in Arabic very often are actual nouns or adjectives in the language. Off the top of my head, I know people whose names translate to Generous, Light, and Knight. Whoops. So if I have a kid, will that kid be named after a common object? Maybe, but not in English.

It's 9:30pm and I can finally relax a little. I've been stressed out since yesterday and sporadically stressed out since last week. I'm still stressed, but at least the pressing items have been taken care of. I really can't wait until tomorrow at 4pm.

Lightning and Thunder and Hail, Oh My!

Well, that day last week was interesting. Storms and more storms. The whole event lasted about 3 1/2 hours with at least two of those hours just intense heavy rain and nonstop thunder and lighting. We got a little hail, but not too much. Thankfully, the tornadoes were not too close to us, though one was heading our way.

And this weather! Wow, it's nice and hot. Right now, it's about 85 degrees outside and 80 degrees inside. I'm glad we have an air conditioner, but I don't want to use it in March. However, one bad thing that comes with nice weather is bugs. Since the warm up, we've had lady bugs all over the place. Now today, we've got hornets. The hubs killed one in the living room and then a minute later, I locked one between the screen and the window. And then a minute after that, I saw one flying around outside the screen/window. I wish the one locked between the screen and the window would find its way out. I keep seeing it flying around and every time, it seems like it's on the inside of the window coming to get me. I wonder if they have a nest around there. And now it's stuffy in here because I don't have a nice breeze going through the first floor any more. (I just saw another one flying around outside.)

I guess the weather is all I have to talk about.

I want to travel.

I have officially begun reading Harry Potter in German again. It's fun, and I find that I'm getting more details than in English because I have to read slower. And I have to read slower because of words like Lieblingsfussballmannschaft. Ok, that word isn't difficult at all, but it's the longest I've found in the book so far.

So I love this weather. It makes me want to garden and go for walks and play with kitties and travel. I checked out a Tunisia book from the library today and it so made me want to go back to Tunisia this summer. I wish we could, even for a month, but it's way too expensive. Two years ago, it was $3000 just for the airfare, and I bet it would be more this year. Hmm, let's go take a look. I usually use cheaptickets.com to book my flights. I checked around the same dates as last time. Aaannnddd yup, up over $200 per person. Grand total would be $3480 and that's with two stops. Last time we only had one stop. Ridiculous. Well, one friend is in Arkansas, there are friends and relatives all around the midwest, and relatives out east, so maybe we'll get some in-country travel in this year. Or maybe we'll go to Montreal or Toronto. Or Jamaica. Yeah, probably not Jamaica.

Spring smells great!

Eat Pray Love is a very boring movie. For the second half of it, I actually watched two movies simultaneously, the boring DVD on the TV and one movie on Netflix on the computer. Bridesmaids was fun though.

The weather was absolutely beautiful today! I think it got up to 65 around here. We've wanted to grill since yesterday but the wind has been crazy so we'll have leftovers. But that's not the point. Beautiful weather! For whatever reason, the changing of the seasons awakens certain desires... like listening to concert band music and watching/reading Harry Potter. I remember maybe seven years ago when spring started to come around that I suddenly had the desire to listen to concert band music. This spring, it's Harry Potter. I was walking back hom from the library, the air was warm, the wind smelled like spring and all I wanted to do was read or watch Harry Potter. Maybe it's because the first time I read the books was around spring. Who knows. But for now, spring means watching the Harry Potter movies, reading the Harry Potter books in German, eating sandiwiches, grilling, and going for more walks outside.
