Honeymoon in Paradise
As you may or may not know, Nidhal and I never got a honeymoon trip after we got married. Well, last night we booked a trip in southern Tunisia! We'll be staying on the island of Djerba right next to the Mediterranean, in an oasis, and in the desert. This is the part of the country where Star Wars was filmed, so we might get to see some of the sets from the new films or landscape from the old films. And the best part is, because it's the off-season, the hotels were really cheap. We found a 4-star hotel for $50 a night, and this is in a place where they charge per person, so it was only $25 per person. Amazing. I'm excited!
My last grade came in, an A. Woo! But the apartment is still messy. I'll have to work on that... maybe.
Villa de RĂªve
In the spirit of vacation, I've spent the weekend designing my dream villa (the title is probably a poor translation of 'Villa of Dreams') for me and Nidhal to be built in the future on a large, beautiful body of water when we have millions of dollars to spare. It is 13,302 square feet not including the three car garage (it could be scaled down a little, but hey, this is a dream home). There are three floors: a basement, ground floor, and upper story. On the upper story, there are six bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a master bedroom with an attached bathroom. One of the smaller bedrooms could be made into an upstairs study, though. The most interesting features of the ground floor are a huge kitchen, vaulted ceilings with skylights in the entrance and living room, and a large library/study. The back of the house opens up to a large deck facing the water. There is a hot tub built into the deck and a large pool in the backyard. The basement is basically another house with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a good size kitchen, dining room, living room, and a large pantry. There is also a fitness room in the basement (as Nidhal requested). Not bad... I like it. And there is plenty of room for everyone to come visit!
Now back to reality, three of my four grades have been posted: two A's and an A-. I'll accept that. Nidhal is currently at class... there is a pineapple on our table... and I need to clean the apartment. My spring classes start the first week of May assuming the s t u p i d financial aid will give me my money. Yesterday, Nidhal and I tried a local Ethiopian restaurant. The food was good and not too expensive, but the portions were very small.
Vacation!
Well, the semester is finally over! I've submitted my last assignments and taken my last (and only) exam. I already know that I got 100% on the exam. We spent 7 hours at the library yesterday working on a project. But now I'm done!
Nidhal and I bought our tickets to Tunisia, so that's exciting! I can't wait to get there. I'm so sick of sitting around here in Michigan. His parents have already planned a wedding party, and while we're there, we are hoping to travel around the southern part of Tunisia where there is desert. Ah, I can't wait.
Mexican Feast!
Today was a very full and nice day, but unfortunately, no 'school work' was accomplished. The day started around 1pm with 90 minutes tennis and soccer at the park. Then we had to stop at Kroger to get some cilantro for the mexican food I was making tonight. We also bought some lemonade because we were so thirsty from all the tennis playing. And then Nidhal went to a friend's house to watch a soccer game and I made dinner. I started with the guacamole and then about three hours later, the food was ready to eat. We had chicken enchiladas, spanish rice, and homemade guacmole and salsa with chips. And I just remembered that I forgot to bring out the sour cream for the enchiladas. Oh well. There are so many leftovers. There's over half a pan of rice, 10 enchiladas, a bowl of salsa, and a large container of guacamole left. Nidhal loved it.
Goats don't grow on market day.
I finally bought the 6th Harry Potter book in English. Now I just need to get the last book in German and I'll have two complete collections.
A few weeks ago, I only had one class. ...which means two consecutive weeks of 5-day weekends. I love the weekend.
This past weekend, Nidhal and I were back in Au Gres. On Sunday, we played softball with some people and afterward, both of us were very very sore. My left arm hurt from batting and my right arm hurt from throwing. And Lyne, I wanted to come see you and finally play the Harry Potter game with Christen, but I didn't want to bother you and your family on Saturday and Sunday was Easter... so next time!
There is so much to get done before the end of the semester. Classes end next week and my last assignments are due the week after.
