Bright Copper Kettles
Nidhal and I watched The Wedding Planner yesterday, and he was rooting for Mossimo (you know, the Italian guy). Mediterraneans stick together...? I like it that I can watch 'chick flicks' with Nidhal. He's not overly fond of them, but he enjoys them enough.
My job was unexpectedly nice to me and gave me the day after Thanksgiving off. I couldn't believe it. I was hoping, but I thought it was an impossibility. But there it was, right on the board. And I don't work until 4pm on Saturday, so I'll get to stay with the family for a good amount of time. I should probably tell my mother the new development so she can plan accordingly.
When It Rains, It Pours
Nidhal and I watched The Sound of Music yesterday. He had some trouble getting into it, but I think he enjoyed it in the end. I like the songs in that movie. I like the movie in general. It's a good movie.
In other news, Nidhal's mouth pain is getting better. He went to the oral surgeon yesterday and he saw that Nidhal did indeed have a dry socket. So the doctor stuffed a medicated bandage thing into Nidhal's wisdom tooth hole. That did not go over too well with Nidhal because it was quite painful, but that pain went away after about 30 minutes and it took with it most of the other pain. So Nidhal is doing quite well.
Out apartment is still a messy disaster. There is just not enough storage space and so everything gets left on the floor or on the table.
It snowed today. The first snow I saw was last Sunday. It snowed all the way from Au Gres to Ann Arbor. I love snow... and snowflakes... and penguins... and Christmas.
Der arme Nidhali
My poor baby Nidhal had one of his wisdom teeth cut out on Tuesday. He was in pain and such, but the medication was helpful (Vicodin). But then last night, the pain level rose dramatically, and he has been in awful pain since then. He kept wanting to take more Vicodin, but I refused to let him because that would be way too much acetaminophen. (Wow, I spelled acetaminophen right on the first try). So the poor boy was whimpering and I couldn't do anything about it because we were out of Ibuprofen (which can be taken with acetaminophen apparently). Then at 2 a.m. he had me call the doctor's office, and the doctor said absolutely no more Vicodin and that he should take some Ibuprofen. Thanks, Doc. I already knew that. So we then drove to Meijer at 2:30 in the morning. I have never been to Meijer at that time of night, and Nidhal got his Advil. My Nidhal is now dozing in bed, waiting for his doctor's appointment at 2:15. They think it's a dry socket, and it definitely sounds like one. I just hope they can relieve some of the pain for him. That's my news for the week. That and I definitely had a quick-witted moment at work yesterday... you know, when there's a situation that just needs the perfect one-liner... Yeah, well, I definitely spit it out and had everyone around me dying of laughter. I consider that quite an accomplishment.
The World is Watching
Welcome to election day. Nidhal is experiencing his first US election first hand, and I think he's enjoying it. I didn't vote today, but if I did, I would have voted for Obama. Palin is an idiot. As my coworker so amusingly said, McCain is going to die in office and Obama is going to be assassinated, so the real question is do we want Palin or Biden to be president. I don't know too much about Biden, but I do know that I absolutely do not want Palin in charge of this country. I was basically on the fence until McCain picked Palin, and then my choice was clear. I just hope that Gary Peters doesn't get a seat in the house. He is also an idiot.
I'm exhausted.
Come to my wedding reception on Saturday!
My apartment is a mess.
